 Southern Cross Designs

This is how the story goes...

After my husband and I lost both of our dads, we decided to load up on a bus and spend time in Mobile, Alabama.  He pursued his musical project, Highly Kind, then teaming up with Kung Fu Mama which made passing the time really enjoyable.  I pursued the art of  NADA Damn Thang.  This left me with plenty of time to draw.  From which, many of my hand drawn works were born.  While the Spies family opened their home to us and Heather let me work some at her restaurant, Mama Roux's, I learned how to make incredible recipes for classic New Orleans dishes.  Tress Turner, a southern artist with incredible talent, also took me under her wing and  showed me in the best of ways how to make a cross.  We collected drift wood from the beach and ornaments from anywhere, ate steak, drank wine, and ran a power saw.  She told me she couldn't wait to see what I could do.  Those words mean something now.  After our many experiences, I moved home to pursue my career.  Without her supervision, I had to learn to assemble typically without blades of any sort.  My family discourages me from using knives in the kitchen sooo!  Thankful to have survived with all 10 fingers and toes, I slowly began to come up with my own style, thanks to my limitations with sharp tools.  Eventually and recently, I developed a very supportive circle that have encouraged me to expand from creating and sharing locally to tapping into the masses.  This is a passion and not only am I glad to have this urge to create, I am so happy to try this new adventure out.  I hope you appreciate the craft and share ideas that help me to grow.
